On September 29, 2010, Creative Video helped the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and ExxonMobil present the 24th Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The Hispanic Hertiage Awards honor Latino leaders in various categories during a celebration of cultural pride, accomplishment and promise. During the special evening in Washington, DC, HHF produced an entertaining and moving stage production featuring top Latino entertainers paying tribute to the 2010 Hispanic Heritage Awards Honorees, who include: Juan Luis Guerra, Alejandro Sanz, Cuauhtémoc Blanco and America Ferrera. Musical performances featured Luis Enrique, Belinda, Jenni Rivera, and Jen Carlos Canela.
Each of the eight categories had a three minute video explaining the impact the Honoree had the Latino community. Creative Video had to ingest all the footage before the event into a Grass Valley Turbo and completed edits on the spot.
Creative Video provided both archival recording and live IMAG and projection support. In order to accomplish both these feats simultaneously, it required putting together a massive backstage tech area, which featured an enormous amount of both crew and equipment. Essentially, CVW would be switching two shows at once.
The tech area consisted of two different switchers. Show manager and Technical Director Matthew Eidemiller used the Broadcast Pix SDI based switcher and three Hitachi z4000 cameras to record the event for archive purposes. Technical Director Sean Hovan used the Screen Pro II HD switcher which took a feed from the Broadcast Pix, and combined it with over 50 HD videos and animations played from the Grass Valley Turbo IDDR to feed the LED screens and 4 50” plasma monitors on the stage.
The camera operators on the show were Joe Brown, Josh Monk and Mike Joy. Video Engineer Ashley Caudill and Tape Operator Alissa Kelly were also intricate parts of the production.
