In mid April, the American Truck Dealers held their annual convention at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center located at the Potomac National Harbor here in the Washington, DC area. Although this wasn’t Creative Video’s first time working in the newly built facility, it did mark the first event that they produced at the new location. The convention, which featured over 1,000 attendees, was a three day event that included appearances by James Carville, Mary Matlin and the Capital Steps. The 46th annual show also included discussions and workshops, where attendees voiced their opinions and took part in shaping solutions to the organization’s problems and concerns. From a technical standpoint, Creative Video handled all production for ATD’s general sessions, which took place in the Gaylord’s Potomac Ballroom. The room featured a stage draped with patriotic themed spandex set pieces, and flanked by two 12’x16’ projection screens. Eiki XT4, 12,000 ANSI lumen projectors were used to fill the screens from a throw distance of nearly 140 feet. These projectors specialize in long throw situations, and displayed beautiful images throughout the convention. The Broadcast Pix SDI based switcher was used to switch between two different cameras, video and audio roll-ins, and full screen graphics. Each show went off without a hitch, adding to the many different locations at which Creative Video has produced successful events. If your organization has events scheduled at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, let CVW use their experience and expertise to help make them look and sound as good as possible.
