Each summer, Creative Video produces a Pro Bono video for a deserving charity or non-profit community service organization. This past summer we produced the District's Children's Law Center video. Working with the Washington Women in Public Relations, who were helping redesigning the Center's web site, Creative Video embarked on capturing the spirit and dedication of the Centers staff and the commitment of its clients to what the Center has done for them. Working closely with the Center's Development Director, Joan Geiger Wood, we established a shooting schedule involving three locations. The Center's Headquarters in DC's China Town, the top of the Jones Day law firm across from the Capital and at a Children's Hospital center in Anacostia. Additional B-roll was shot in Anacostia, South East and South West DC. All shooting was done using Creative's Panasonic HPX 500 P2 HD camera. Intern Ashley McPike logged all the P2 Media that was shot by Sean Hovan, Matt Eidemiller, Kirby Whyte and freelancers Eric Bugash and Mike Joy. CLC's Executive Director, Judith Sandalow, who had never been involved in a video edit before, became an active member of the edit team of Joan Geiger Wood and CVW's editor David Smolar. The process took over two weeks of back and forth as they cut down over 4 hours of video into a tightly packed video about the Center, it's services and the clients it served and who feel very strongly about the Children's Law Center. The video we produced can be seen through the Children's Law Center web site at www.childrenslawcenter.org and click on CLC Video Now Available. The video was shown at the Children's Law Center Annual Fundraiser at the Kennedy Center where Attorney General Eric Holder was honored. Over 450 of Washington's top lawyers and civic leaders attend. Creative Video also produced this event for the Center. Judith Sandalow, CLC's Executive Director added "Creative Video made the process easy and fun. They explained the process, engaged us at the right time and were very creative. The video has already raised $15,000 to help at-risk children in DC and raised awareness about our work." We feel that giving back to the community is an essential part of doing business in the Washington area. The Children's Law Center is an excellent example of an organization that gives back every day and we are proud to have helped tell their story.
